Eletson improves data exchange with Dualog

Data exchange as part of Eletson’s fleet digitalisation strategy

Published

Our customer Eletson shared their experience in streamlining data exchange across their fleet as part of their digitalisation strategy. As a result, they have sped up processes, safeguarded data, and enabled comprehensive monitoring of data transfers throughout the fleet. Headquartered in Piraeus, Greece, the company has over 50 years of history and operates a fleet of 20 LPG and LEG carriers worldwide.

A digitalisation strategy focused on security and efficiency

In its approach to digitalisation, Eletson prioritises cybersecurity, process traceability and automation.

Michalis Kantartzoglou, IT Manager at Eletson explains: ” In our digitalisation strategy, the seamless integration of robust and standardised solutions into our IT infrastructure is crucial, and it is essential that the processes align with our cybersecurity requirements. When it comes to data transfer, we need immediate file synchronisation across all vessels and the ability to monitor transfers fleetwide. Many tools, including custom-built solutions, failed to meet our expectations – particularly in achieving near real-time file synchronisation and ensuring data security.”

Types of data Eletson transfers to and from ships

Onboard systems exchange a wide range of critical data with shore-based systems including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) replication and updates, VDR (Voyage Data Recording) data, performance analytics, procurement requests and operational telegrams. File sizes vary from small reports to large videos requiring a reliable and efficient data transfer system.

Monitoring fleet transfers matters

To meet its operational demands, Eletson adopted Dualog Drive and Dualog Mail, ensuring secure, standardised, and instant information exchange across its fleet.

Michalis Kantartzoglou says: “Since deploying Dualog Drive, our data is secure and instantly synchronised across the fleet without errors. However, one of the most valuable improvements for me is the dashboard. We now have complete visibility, allowing us to monitor transfer statuses, track the volume of data sent to and from each ship, generate reports, and troubleshoot quickly across the fleet. Additionally, monitoring enables us to assess vessel performance, create KPIs, and share insights with management.”

User experience

With automated data transfer using Dualog Drive there has been a significant reduction in workload for both onboard and shore-based teams.

“Our Captains and Chief Engineers use this service to send reports and access technical documentation. The training department easily synchronises training materials across all vessels. However, more than 70% of our transfers are automated and don’t require manual work onboard or in the office,” adds Michalis Kantartzoglou, IT Manager at Eletson.

Supporting digital transformation in shipping

Eletson’s approach highlights the importance of secure, efficient, and standardised solutions in modern fleet management.

Kyriakos Papapolydorou, Regional Manager at Dualog, says: “It is very valuable for us to support Eletson in their digital transformation, help them comply with industry regulations, and optimise daily operations. Regarding our data transfer solution, we update it monthly, strengthening security, improving automation, and expanding data analysis and reporting capabilities.”
